Love Speaks

No perfect words

no perfect day

to stand for what is right

to hide behind silence

when the heart has so much to say.

No perfect past

no perfect way to teach

but there is color

we cannot be blind

for in each shade

beauty is what you find.

No perfect draft

no perfect time

united we must stand

hand in hand.

For in His glorious name

-Jesus Christ-

all hearts beat the same.

So don’t overthink

don’t leave it up to the mind

follow the heart

united in Christ

and that is where

words you will find

united together under God

there is love

and there is no better kind.

For silence is blind

but love speaks –

and above all God’s gifts –

love

is

the

best

kind.

Mommy Thumb Again?

Back in November, I started to have an intense pain in my left wrist and thumb.  It was around the time that TJ had had a growth spurt, causing him to be super fussy and wanting to be held 24/7.  Therefore, I figured that it was due to carrying him around and that it would go away in a week or so.  However, after a month and a half, I went to my doctor who sent me to an orthopedic.  Sure enough, what I had read was right… I had “Mommy “Thumb,” or De Quervain’s Tendonitis.   After getting a shot of cortisone in the area, the pain went away but only to return in a few weeks.   When I went back to the orthopedic, he told me that some people need to get surgery eventually on it but that he would give me a brace to help it hopefully heal.   Then a week later, as suddenly as the pain had turned up, it disappeared.  It  was so ..I went to bed one night with a lot of pain and woke up with none! Thank you God!

However, two days ago I woke up with this same pain that I know too well, but now in my right wrist and thumb. Honestly, I feel like the pain this time around is worse than the first time. I mean TJ weighs about 8 pounds more since then. Yet, my reaction to it is far less dramatic.  It is almost as it is not even there. Yet another reminder of how far I have come in the past year. It’s really mind-blowing to think back to what I was stressing about less than a year ago and how much of that is no longer existent in my mind.  Life has dealt me such a different perspective on it all and I am forever grateful for that.

Like my husband told me a couple of weeks ago when we were hanging out with friends, “You became a lot more fun when you stopped giving a !*#&.”

Ha! While know this is true in many ways, in other ways, I will always be that person who wears my heart on my sleeve, and being sensitive and empathic will always be two of my most challenging, yet greatest qualities.  And for once in my life, I am at peace with it.

Anyways, back to where I started.  “Mommy Thumb” is real and does not only happen to moms.  Check it out…
